DIY: Crayola Lipstick!

Hey loves! I have another fun and simple DIY for you guys! I have been wanting to do this DIY project forever and I finally decided to pick up some crayola crayons and a 12 pack of acrylic containers with screw-on and off caps. I already had pure coconut oil laying around (you can purchase this at BJS or Costco, it's HUGE!!). I'm going to try and keep this short and sweet. In just four easy steps I will tell you how to make your very own fun and colorful lipsticks!

What you will need:
-Pure coconut oil
-Vaseline (optional, I did not use any)
-Crayola's non-toxic crayons
-Glass jar for melting down the coconut oil/crayon
-Something to mix with
-Stove and pot for heating up water
-container to put your lipstick in

Step 1:
Turn your stove on to medium and place a water filled pot onto stove to heat the water. Start preparing by choosing your color(s) and peeling the wrapper off of each one. I found that it was much easier to peel the wrapper off by running each crayon under warm water first.

Step 2:
Take 1/2 a teaspoon of coconut oil and drop it into a glass jar (I used little glass sauce cups). By now your water should be heated up. Place your glass jar into the hot water and let the coconut oil melt.

Step 3:
Once the coconut oil is completely melted, break your crayon you have decided to use in half and drop into the melted coconut oil. The crayon starts to melt pretty fast so be sure to stir it into the coconut oil very well.

Step 4:
Once mixture is completely melted and mixed thoroughly, remove the glass jar from the water and pour the mixture into a small container. Then place the small container aside or in the fridge for a few minutes to cool down and set.

Once I finished letting all of mine cool down and set, I decided to test them out and swatch them. I was surprised with the outcome but I love the way they turned out! The yellow-orange and the red-orange turned out the best and make a beautiful lipstick color. This is definitely a DIY project I could do over and over again! So many different shades I want to mix together next time to make some even funky colors. If you would like to have a more glossy sheer effect..add vaseline! Also, these are a lot easier to apply with a lip brush as opposed to using your own fingers. The color is hard to wash off of fingers unless you use hand sanitizer. Otherwise you'll be scrubbing your hands together with soap for a bit.

I hope you enjoyed this DIY project!
If you decide to give it a try let me know! I would love to see what colors you use and the outcome!
Thank you for reading (:
